About this event
Bee season is well underway! You see your bees buzzing and bringing back nectar and pollen as fast as they can. But they’re actually engaged in a range of other complex behaviors, including communicating, grooming and caring for brood.
This month, Dr. Clare Rittschof, a biologist and expert in honey bee behavior, will illuminate some of the social behaviors that help honey bees navigate the complex world of their colonies.
Dr. Rittschof is an Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where her research interests include the impacts of early-life environment on honey bee health, floral landscape impacts on honey bee health and behavior, and the relationship between nutrition and honey bee viral loads.
Dr. Rittschof received her PhD in Zoology/Biology from the University of Florida and completed post-doctoral research at the University of Illinois and Penn State University.
